Acting Senior Advisor for Native American Affairs

Brooke Crosby was appointed to the position of acting senior advisor for Native American Affairs in November 2023.

Crosby has served Indigenous communities at the local, state, and federal level. She has been a driving force for change, from developing and managing a district-wide Indian Education program to serving as Legislative Assistant for Washington State Senator John McCoy. She also managed a distance learning site at Northwest Indian College. In each endeavor, she recognizes the importance of standing on the shoulders of those who came before and weaving their wisdom into the fabric of her journey.

Crosby came to AmeriCorps as a portfolio manager before moving into the role of Special Assistant for Native American Affairs in 2022 where she represented AmeriCorps externally with the Tribal Nations and leaders. She led the agency’s tribal convening and supported the implementation of cultural competency training for staff. Throughout her career, Crosby has had the privilege of actively listening and learning from Native leaders, striving to consistently uplift and amplify native voices.

Crosby previously served as an AmeriCorps member with the Snohomish County YMCA Minority Achievers program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in American Cultural Studies with a concentration in Native American Studies from Western Washington University, Fairhaven College and her master’s degree in education from Antioch University Seattle.

Crosby is a military spouse residing in traditional Coast Salish territory in the Greater Seattle area.
