Priorities
In the FY 2019 AmeriCorps Indian Tribes competition, CNCS seeks to prioritize the investment of national service resources in:
- Disaster Services - improving community resiliency through disaster preparation, response, recovery, and mitigation
- Economic Opportunity - increasing economic opportunities for communities by engaging opportunity youth, either as the population served and/or as AmeriCorps members, to prepare them for the workforce
- Education - improving student academic performance in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics (STEM), and/or serving students who attend Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) schools
- Healthy Futures – reducing and/or preventing substance abuse and suicide (see Mandatory Supplemental Guidance)
- Veterans and Military Families -- positively impacting the quality of life of veterans and improving military family strength
Application Deadline
The deadline for applications to the 2019 NOFO is Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
CNCS expects that successful applicants will be notified by Thursday, June 27, 2019.

Call Descriptions:
AmeriCorps Basics: For questions about the basic concepts and components of AmeriCorps State and National grants, the application timeline, or other general questions about AmeriCorps. Participants are encouraged to review the “Introduction to AmeriCorps State and National”, “Key AmeriCorps Grant Terminology and Concepts” and “Introduction to AmeriCorps Members” technical assistance documents before the call.
AmeriCorps Program Management and Design: For questions including appropriate AmeriCorps member service activities, staffing for the program, grantee responsibilities, or any other question related to program design or program management. Participants are encouraged to review the “Categories of AmeriCorps Grants” and “AmeriCorps Program Management and Design” technical assistance documents before the call.
AmeriCorps Grant Selection Criteria: For questions about the AmeriCorps grant application selection criteria, grant review process, or any other questions that need to be addressed in order to complete your application. Participants are encouraged to review the 2019 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), Supplemental Guidance, and Application Instructions before the call.
Planning Grants: For guidance on the planning grant funding opportunity, selection criteria and grant requirements. Participants are encouraged to review the 2019 Notice of Funding Opportunity, specifically the planning grant criteria, and the Planning Grant Application Instructions.
Best Practices in Developing Performance Measures: For guidance about how to create high-quality performance measures that align with an applicant's program design and meet AmeriCorps requirements. CNCS has made some changes to the performance measures for 2019 so this call is appropriate for current grantees and new grant applicants.
Best Practices in Budget Development: For guidance about how to create a compliant grant budget for an AmeriCorps program. Participants are encouraged to review the "Developing and Managing Your Budget" and "Preparing the Grant Budget for AmeriCorps Programs" online courses before the webinar.
